DOGS AT TAYLOR’S WAVE + RIVERSIDE PARK

Good river day.
Good dog day.

Current park rules come first. Clean water, shade, paw-safe surfaces and an honest read of the river edge determine whether the dog should join you that day.

01

Check posted rules first

Riverside Park has historically welcomed dogs, but the Town’s published expansion information does not yet establish the finished park’s future dog rules. Follow current signs and Town updates.

02

Bring clean drinking water

Do not let the French Broad become the dog’s water bowl. Pack more clean water than you expect to need, plus a bowl.

03

Treat the river edge as a hazard

Current, debris, fishing line and hooks, steep or unstable banks, construction areas and hot surfaces can all turn a casual stop into a problem.

04

Look before any water contact

Keep pets away from water that looks discolored or scummy, has surface foam or mats, or smells bad. Harmful algal blooms can make animals seriously ill.

05

Rinse and respond

Rinse a dog with clean water after questionable contact. If unusual symptoms follow exposure, contact a veterinarian promptly and describe the water contact.

06

Plan for shade and an exit

Bring a towel and leash, identify shade before settling in, and be ready to leave if the site is crowded, hot, noisy or unsafe for the dog.

Still deciding?

Check the current park update and water-quality result, then choose the plan around the dog—not around salvaging the outing. Find nearby dry-land alternatives →
