THE LOCAL GUIDE

Know the river.
Know the neighborhood.

A small, evolving guide to the places around Taylor’s Wave—written from here, not scraped from a tourism list.

RIVER ACCESS · TEMPORARILY CLOSED

Silver-Line Park

The Town currently reports Silver-Line closed for river-debris removal. When open, it provides upstream access with a boat ramp, picnic areas, trails and a playground.

HERE TO WATCH?

The wave is an attraction from dry land, too.

The expanded park is planned with an overlook pavilion and spectator area. Wave Yard will track the practical watching-day details: where the view works, accessible routes, shade, seating, restrooms, crowd conditions, photography and what to do before or after.

WAITING FOR YOUR PADDLER?

Your day does not have to stop at the riverbank.

Start with the spectator guide, then choose a nearby coffee, short walk, meal or quiet place where you can stay reachable. We will keep this route practical: realistic timing, parking, restrooms, accessibility and how quickly you can get back.

DOGS AT THE RIVER

Good day for you.
Good day for the dog.

Check the posted rules, shade, drinking water, paw-safe surfaces, current strength and whether the dog should be near the water at all that day.

AT THE PARKRead the signs first

Riverside Park has historically welcomed dogs, but the Town’s published expansion information does not yet state the future dog rules. Follow the signs on site during construction.

AT THE WATERBring clean drinking water

Do not let a dog’s thirst make the river the water bowl. Current, debris, fishing gear, hot surfaces and steep banks are hazards too.

LOOK BEFORE SPLASHScum, discoloration or odor = stay out

NC DEQ and CDC advise keeping pets away from water that looks discolored, scummy or smells bad. Rinse after questionable contact and call a veterinarian promptly if illness follows exposure.

FOR AN EASIER DOG DAYForgot the bowl or towel?

Wave Yard may deliver a small kit with clean water, a collapsible bowl, dog towel, shade and a washable seat cover.
