TAYLOR’S WAVE · PARKING + ARRIVAL

Know where you’re going.
Verify before unloading.

Riverside Park is open during construction, but parking, routes and amenities can change. This page separates what exists now from what is planned for the finished park.

Getting here during I-26 construction.

The Hill Street connection to Riverside Drive closed September 13, 2026 and is expected to remain closed through at least the end of 2027. If you normally approach Riverside Drive through Hill Street, live navigation may route you toward Clingman Avenue or Broadway instead. Use current navigation for the final route and follow posted detours; construction conditions can change. Last checked September 23, 2026.

01

Use the correct destination

Riverside Park—the Taylor’s Wave site—is at 1630 Riverside Drive in Woodfin. Silver-Line Park and Pearson Bridge are different access points.

Check the Town update

Riverside Park is open after emergency repairs, but construction can temporarily change parking, routes and access. Check again on the day you visit.

Do not count on future amenities yet

The expansion is planned to add parking, changing rooms, restrooms, spectator space and a new river-access ramp. Planned does not mean available today.

04

Keep unloading simple

Do not block Riverside Drive, construction access or emergency routes. Follow on-site signs and move boats only from a legal, confirmed parking area.

05

Confirm the whole river route

For a one-way float, confirm the put-in, take-out, legal parking and return transportation before unloading.

Check accessibility details separately

Parking availability alone does not answer route surface, slope, distance, restroom access or accessible viewing. Use the Accessibility Guide for the current known details.

Opening and park work have different timelines.

The Town of Woodfin has scheduled Taylor’s Wave’s grand-opening event for October 23, 2026. The larger Riverside Park project has a separate timeline. Confirm parking, shore access and operating details with the Town before visiting. The park expansion’s closeout target remains July 2027. GETTING THERE WITHOUT A CAR

Open now, under development and planned are not the same.

There is not yet a continuous greenway connection from Asheville to Taylor’s Wave. Greenway search results can mix today’s paths with funded construction and future connections, so verify the whole route before relying on it.

OPEN NOW

Existing streets + paths

Use only a route you can confirm is currently public and continuous. Riverside Drive traffic, construction and missing connections may make a route unsuitable for some riders or walkers.

UNDER DEVELOPMENT

Funded Woodfin sections

Buncombe County says the Riverside Drive/NC 251 design is being revised after Helene. The funded sections are expected around summer 2029; that timeline does not make them usable today.

FUTURE + UNFUNDED

The remaining connection

About 0.41 mile near The Mill at Riverside and Elk Mountain Road was removed from the funded project. It remains a future connector, so the 2029 target should not be read as a promise of a complete greenway route from Asheville.
